w3dL Limited was set up after the tragic death of Steve Taylor, who was the founder and visionary for We Work With Data. The new company continues to work to the high standards that Steve always set for himself and others and was formed by the senior management team of We Work With Data.
Steve Taylor - 29 March 1969 – 22 January 2018
An extremely talented individual, who was passionate about Market Research, Steve was renowned for his innovate and creative approach to his work, in particular to data analysis, collection and processing, where he had a lifetime of experience.
He began his career in Market Research with Digitab (Taylor Nelson’s specialist data bureaux) in 1987 and continued at several different specialist analysis bureaux and market research agencies, working in particular on media, readership and online studies.
He was elected to the committee of the Association for Survey Computing in 2003, a body that unites specialists from commercial, educational and governmental research. He later became Deputy Chair of the organisation, hosting a conference at Imperial College in April 2006 on presentation and dissemination techniques and, more recently, chairing a Q&A session with some of the leading lights of the MR software industry and delivering a paper at the 2016 conference. Steve was also a fellow of the Royal Statistical Society and active at RSS events.
Steve set up his own consultancy, Inputech, in 2004, to follow specific new areas of interest to him, including software design and general MR consultancy, in addition to his well-established skills as a Market Research Analyst. After successfully handling over 250 projects in five and a half years, he founded We Work With Data.
Steve had a very clear vision for We Work With Data, which reflected his personality, passion for data and desire to build an approachable, innovative organisation specialising in complex data processing and analysis, market research technology, data visualisation and software development.
Moving in to 2018, Steve was working on bringing new people into the business, creating jobs for the local community and continuing to develop the company in line with his visions for working with data and people. He was particularly excited about bringing a fresh eye to data visualisation and delivery for end users and was looking forward to the Company’s most productive year to date. It was such a blow for him to be taken away just when his vision was all coming together.
Away from work, Steve was devoted to his family, was a talented, active musician and an avid fan of Everton FC, as well as enjoying life generally.
He will be sorely missed by his many friends, colleagues and associates.
